These monoprints are part of my exploration of the transience of design and excess—they are created using an experimental monoprint technique I developed, in which I apply the printing paste directly to the screen. As soon as the first print is complete and the screen is reused for another print, all that remains is a rainbow of the colours used. Even in the first print, ghostly outlines of the print motifs seem to reappear in the background as the squeegee glides across the screen, shifting the paste. It is in the nature of the mono print technique that each screen can only be printed once showing the same result.
